Clinical and administrative experience in social services, inpatient, outpatient, residential, and day-programming involvement with children, adults and elders experiencing life stressors as well mental health, developmental disability and substance abuse issues afford me a broad and deep experience base to draw from. Besides high levels of clinical and management competency, I have special organizational interests and skills in the areas of Leadership, Human Systems, Organizational Change, Utilization Management, Employee Relations, Teamwork, and Collaboration; as well as clinical interests and skills in the areas of Elder Care, Group Work, System of Care, Residential Services, Child & Family, SPMI, Dual-Diagnosis and Exceptional Education. Having experience as a NC multi-county Area MH/DD/SAS Administrator, Manager, and Clinician I've become quite involved with NC Mental Health Reform. Providers and LME's may find my experiences (e.g. UM, Service Management, Appeals & Complaints, Access, Triage, Emergency Services etc.) to be of help. For my dissertation research, I needed a comprehensive listing of Clinical Social Work's core competencies. After discovering that one did not exist, I spent several years reviewing the literature and conducting formal research in an effort to develop such a listing.
